Everyone is invited to go along to Maidstone’s Light Up Festival taking place Friday 7 February from 5.00pm to 7.30pm.

Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) is supporting the event which will see livemusic and children’s mascots entertaining the crowds in the lead up to a stunning parade of lanterns through the town centre.

Maidstone’s stunning Light Up Festival is a free to attend event and is being brought to the town by One Maidstone Business Improvement District (BID@ in collaboration with Cohesion Plus.

Local children from six local schools along with local community groups will carry their homemade lanterns from County Hall through Week Street to Jubilee Square while crowds are entertained by a host of street performers, and live entertainment in the heart of the town centre.

The Mayor of Maidstone, Cllr John Perry, who is attending the event where he will welcome everyone to the town, said:

“The Light Up Festival is a fantastic community event which brings people of ages together to enjoy some wonderful entertainment for a host of professional performers and the children get the chance to show off their lantern creations.”

The Maidstone Light Up Festival is a vibrant community celebration of light, art and culture.  The must see event includes a parade which finishes with a dazzling light show in Jubilee Square.
