Community energy empowers residents to work together to generate, use, and share renewable energy, reducing reliance on traditional energy sources and lowering carbon emissions. This initiative is a key step in delivering on one of the council’s main climate change strategy priorities: influencing borough-wide decarbonisation.
By supporting this educational campaign, MBC is also committed to helping the borough’s most climate-vulnerable residents, ensuring they have access to information and opportunities that can reduce energy costs and improve resilience.
Cllr Rachel Rodwell, MBC Cabinet Member for Climate Transition and Nature Recovery, said:
This partnership reflects our focus on influencing sustainability and community empowerment within our borough. Small actions like these can have a big impact on wider education and raising awareness around the benefits of decarbonising as a community.
Danny Olsson, Head of Project Strategy and Delivery at Community Energy Pathways, said:
Community Energy is vital in ensuring a clean and fair energy future for all. Community Energy Pathways is delighted to support MBC's work to activate the community energy sector in the area.
As part of this collaboration, the council is providing free advertising space to help raise awareness and encourage local engagement.

MBC envisions a borough of Quality Homes for All, where residents can make their homes energy efficient and their money go further. Collaborations with Community Energy Pathways will help to deliver on this strategic priority.
