£20 million Pride in Place investment puts Park Wood and Senacre residents in charge of local change image

Residents in Park Wood, Senacre and surrounding areas are being invited to shape the future of their neighbourhoods through a £20 million long-term investment programme that puts local decision-making directly into the hands of communities.

The Pride in Place programme, backed by the UK Government, will see £20 million invested over the next 10 years in Park Wood, Senacre, and parts of Mangravet, Shepway, Loose and Linton. Local people will play a central role in deciding what improvements are made and how the funding is spent.

Described as a once-in-a-generation opportunity, the initiative is designed to empower residents to set priorities, strengthen local services and deliver changes that matter most to their communities – from amenities and green spaces to support services and local facilities.

As part of the next stage of the programme, residents are being encouraged to step forward to help lead the change locally. Applications are now open for:

  • An Independent Chair, who will bring people together and lead local decision-making.
  • Neighbourhood Board members, forming a resident-led group that will set priorities and guide the long-term plan for investment.

These are non-paid roles, but they offer participants the chance to gain valuable skills and experience, build new connections and play a direct role in shaping the future of their area.

Local people will work alongside partners to ensure decisions are made with the community, not for it, placing community voice at the heart of every stage of the programme.

Residents who want to be part of leading local change can find out more and get involved here.
