The ceremony will take place in Jubilee Square, at 10.30am on Monday 22 June, bringing together representatives from the Armed Forces, veterans, cadets and civic leaders.
The Mayor of Maidstone, Councillor Brian Clark, will address attendees, alongside a senior representative from the Armed Forces and a representative of the Lord-Lieutenant of Kent. The ceremony will also include prayers and the raising of the flag.
The Sea Cadets, members of 36 Engineer Regiment and The Queen’s Gurkha Engineers, based at Invicta Park Barracks, are expected to attend.
Councillor David Naghi, Cabinet Member for Community Cohesion and Safety, said: “Armed Forces Day is an important opportunity for us to recognise and thank all those who serve and have served in our Armed Forces, as well as their families who support them.
“Maidstone has a long and proud connection with the military, and it is right that we come together as a community to show our appreciation for the dedication, professionalism and sacrifice of our Armed Forces community.”
The Armed Forces Day flag will be raised at the ceremony and will then fly from the Town Hall throughout the week as a visible sign of support. Everyone is invited to join the ceremony and share their appreciation for the Armed Forces.
